Get In Touch
I uprooted my lifestyle and did everything I could that would allow me to focus, to learn and to achieve. This led me to have to make some difficult decisions; if I wanted to grow, I had to step out of my comfort zone. This even meant shutting down my Facebook for a whole five years (true story). I studied hard, worked two jobs, walked away from less-than-positive relationships, volunteered and zoned in on being the best I could be.
I can recall how I felt at the time. I was so unsure of what to do and was scrambling for answers. Really, I was scared of many things—the unknown, failure, leaving everything behind. A million what-ifs were flying through my mind until I remembered a saying that I came across earlier that year…
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
This became my mantra.
I truly believe that things happen for a reason and life is full of lessons, if you allow for it. Years later, it indeed proved to be a blessing in disguise. I now have a great job that challenges me and allows me to work with fantastic people on a daily basis. I have wonderful friends and a supportive family. I’ve fallen in love, eaten at fabulous restaurants, traveled to magical places and met some amazing people.
Best of all, I learned a few valuable things along the way. The importance of the simple things in life. Of nurturing meaningful relationships. Of taking care of others and ourselves. Of making time to enjoy life and all of its wonder. It’s easier said than done, this I realize, but knowing your priorities will help you make choices in a way that is aligned with your values.
Life presents us with many opportunities along the way. When you find yourself undecided, wait. Slow down and take a step back. Breathe and evaluate. And don’t forget to listen to your heart. It knows best and will always lead you home.
When you find yourself wondering whether or not you should leap, take a chance or make a change, just remember. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
