My biggest dream for as long as I can remember was to create something that meant something.
Ever since I was a young girl, I would dream up places and spaces — businesses — for people to discover and enjoy. I’d play around with brands in my head. Concepts, products, stores, shelving… I loved to draw and putting pen to paper always helped get my ideas out of my head into the world.
Then, I got older and started to become an adult. This led me to learn what people needed to make their lives better. My ideas went from storefronts to practical solutions.
The internet was always the most fascinating place to me. I remember it was ’95 when my dad brought home our very first computer. Big, blocky, yellow cream colored… and my world exploded.
Suddenly, I had the world’s information at my fingertips. And I had games! Immersive games! Lemmings and Doom were my favourites.
The impact that computers and the internet had on my life — and that of the world — was immeasurable. I know that the internet has its dark side. I know it has its challenges and drawbacks. But in my work, I choose to find the light. I choose to focus on the good — and to bring more good into the world.
I don’t know where this will lead. But what I do know is that I want to dedicate my life to building (creating) beautiful and useful products. To help people live better lives. To do better work. To the advancement and progress of society and a world united.
